I’m often sharing our own work here in the newsletter, but today I’d like to do something different - share some bathrooms that:
Aren’t our own work, and
Are the work of small firms or solo practitioners, and
Happen to all be women practitioners! [That wasn’t the goal, it just happened…kinda cool.]
Despite a fairly wide aesthetic range, they share many commonalities, like thoughtfulness, focus on the client’s unique needs, attention to detail, interesting finishes, and creative solutions. None of them is “super fancy,” and that’s kinda what I like about them! Bathrooms don’t have to be huge or full of bells and whistles to be beautiful, inspiring, restful, and fun.
Bathrooms are important spaces, because we spend a lot of time in there, and also because there are so many design elements to play with. Color, texture, fixtures…it’s all there, and it can get pretty jumbled in the wrong hands. I’m delighted to say that today, you’re in the right hands!

A gorgeous labor of love by architect Chelsea Gorkiewicz of The Bolt Lab, this renovation of a vernacular house in the DR is clean, warm, bold, and so, so good.
Look at all this good stuff: window sill as shelf, tree as sponge holder, wall mounted brass fixtures, window in the bath, shower and tub in the same space, textured walls. And of course, there’s more:
